Whitethroat (Sylvia communis)
This little bird, one of the warbler family, is a summer visiter from Africa, he is very gregarious and can be seen perched high, calling out to a mate or in warning. At the moment there seems to be one in every bush, tree and bramble.
Canada Geese (Branta canadensis)
As we moved further into the marsh we came upon a group of 18 Canada geese, the noise they were making was tremendous. They were so intent in their fight that they totally ignored our presence. I can only think that they were all juvenile males flexing their muscles!
Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus)
As we neared the marsh we heard the distinctive and haunting call of the Lapwing. We saw it in full display over the water. It must be one of the best aerial displays of any British bird and one that I look forward to seeing every spring.
Canada Goose and goslings. (Branta canadensis)
How can anyone suggest that we should cull these birds?
May I introduce 'Holly'. She is a 10 year old German Shepherd who has a fondness for people but a dislike of other dogs. Realy this dislike of other dogs is due to poor social skills that are no doubt my fault.
I imagine that I'm not alone in having a dog with poor 'Dog to Dog' social skills.
